NUCLEAR  ATTACK                                    SANTOSH KUMAR from INDIA

O could I fly, I’d fly with Lord’s angels!

Fear of  nuclear attack. For this reason

In every season

Even the sweet groves and a rural retreat

Stare at  me, a stranger to joy.

Since the uranium triumph

No longer our earth climbs the golden stair

Tears do never leave her cheek

No longer blithesome innocent

No longer vernal blooms

Only the  sordid sting..

They fail to understand

What it is to live with nuclear fallout

 Mass Destruction Weapons

Our newest rulers point to one end

Extinction of Earth

Lo, how pale the dawn! how  sullied buds.

Lo, wolfs and hawks beguile

The beak and claws

Desecrate flowery greens and streams.

Nuclear attack. That dreary moment.

Piercing scream everywhere

The sun, heaven, earth, ocean

Victim of a sadist’s insanity

And Pity is witness to my pensive cries

In a withered rose garden
